“This was my first experience going to Hanson Automotive, I was given two recommendations by family to get my truck fixed there due to the great service they had received. I was not expecting my truck to come out of the paint booth looking better than I ever imagined it would, let alone expecting the staff & owner to accommodate to every thing that worked in my favor instead of theirs. The process was done fast and timely as possible and I was beyond impressed with their efforts. On top of that, everyone was beyond personable and friendly every time I walked in the door. I was given more than I ever expected from Hanson Automotive and for that reason alone they will hold all of my future business and referrals.
I personally work at a motorsports repair shop and understand how the industry process goes. Walking into unfamiliar repair facilities can be nerve-wrecking and leery, but Hanson blows any other place out of the water due to their great staff, highly advanced machinery and knowledge. You will walk in welcomed and walk out feeling refreshed.

Wanted to expand my review after having moved across the country. The customer service we got here is unlike any we've gotten anywhere. I keep taking my car to different places hoping to get the same kind of care and service that Jim gave us at Hanson's. It was always clear to me that he really cares about taking care of customers - I always brought my car here for oil changes because I knew that they'd give me a heads up on things I should be keeping an eye on without pressuring me to get unnecessary work, like I've experienced elsewhere. This place is a gem in the auto repair business, and I wish we were still around to give them our business.”

“Not sure I want to let the secret out, Hanson did a great job. Car was put together with oem parts, Jim handled all the paperwork and adjustments to get it back to new. I've had other body shops that won't put the extra effort in once they get started and find something else damaged they would submit the addition and didn't tell you until they were done that the work was incomplete. Not so at Hanson, they fix whatever is damaged and fight for you the customer.”

“Jim and the folks here took great care of us! My teenage sons were on a road trip and accidentally filled the tank with diesel instead of unleaded. (Oops!) They went and got the vehicle, spent a few hours cleaning the gas tank out and getting the vehicle back on the road! Same day service! Really appreciated by our family!! “Jim and crew have always taken great care of me. Ive brought both my vehichles here for multiple reasons and cannot find a reason to complain. He treats my vehichle as if it were his own and won't be satisfied with sub-par work. I'm always informed about how my cars progression. Everyone I've talked to has an answer for me or finds someone that knows. My Gpa is a retired mechanic, 35 years, told me to find someone who would take care of your car as if it were their own. Take the time to sit down and listen to Jim and crew and youll feel just that!”

“I had a unique body shop problem. My RV lost the outside access door to the water heater. The RV has full body paint involving three colors in a very decorative flowing pattern. Of course, the lost door had all three colors and not a single straight line. To complicate it more, the door was aluminum while the body was fiberglass. I took the RV to Hanson Automotive to see if it was possible to duplicate the complicated paint pattern on a new water heater access door. The paint team asked me a few questions, took pictures and measurements. A few days later the painted door went on the RV. And the design and color match were perfect. It was flawless. Thank you for doing such a great job!”

“When my truck was broken into and needed repairs to the door, I took it to Hanson, where they fit me into the schedule promptly, and most importantly, got it fixed right the first time, they were able to deal with my insurance company to adjust what was covered by the insurance. They also called me periodically to update me on the progress on my vehicle. The quality and level of workmanship on the repairs and the paint was top notch. Bottom line, these guys are good to go, I would certainly recommend them to anyone, and I will return to them for future work.”

“Hanson Auto is Great! I was reccomended to them by a friend. They go above and beyond to repair your car. My car went in for a rear end collison, although it didnt look like there was a lot of damage, it turned out to be more than could be seen. I picked my car up and it looked better than when I bought it. The paint job is better than I could have imagined. My insurance wouldnt allow a rental- Jim went out of his way and gave me a loaner of his. I would and will reccomend this place to anyone needing body work done!”

“I had a minor accident that put a hole in the front bumper of my 2002 Volkswagen Jetta. I stopped into Hanson after reading the great reviews and was not disappointed. Jim started off by insisting he use genuine Volkswagen parts for the repair and was able to push back on the insurance company who wanted us to use a re-manufactured part. When he had the parts, I dropped off my car on Tuesday evening and it was ready to pick up by noon on Thursday. I'm very pleased with the turnaround and the attention to detail Hanson Automotive provided. They were very flexible with my schedule and afforded me the use of a loaner vehicle for the brief time my vehicle was in the shop.

Overall, I would recommend anyone to use Hanson Automotive for any vehicle.”

“This has been one of the most helpful automotive experiences I have ever had. They were honest,quick to fix, and most importantly reasonably priced. We took our car in on a Wednesday for an estimate. They had the parts in by the next Tuesday and work done by Wednesday. Very quick to get work done, and very nice to work with!”

“I hit a deer on Hwy 6 coming into Coralville on a Saturday night, and decided to take my Highlander into Hanson's based on the google reviews. I sure am glad I did! They were able to get it in right away on Monday and worked with my insurance company to get all the parts approved and me back on the road. Jim kept me in the loop the entire time, calling to give me updates on what was going on and what they were still waiting for on order, and a time frame for completion. He was also great at explaining to me the parts that needed to be replaced and where they were located since I am not familar with mechanics. My Highlander came out looking better than ever! The paint match was perfect and they even cleaned out the inside for me. They were a dream to work with and I am so glad I looked them up!”

“I recently hit a deer a few miles south of Mount Vernon on Highway 1. I talked to Jim at Hanson Automotive the next day and he not only towed my car from Mount Vernon, he gave me a ride to class when he came to pick up my keys. Jim also negotiated with my insurance company to make sure I would get the best parts possible when fixing the car. When the car was fixed it looked better than it did before the accident and he also came to my apartment to pick me up. The service I recieved from Hanson Automotive went far and beyond what I have ever experienced from any other auto body shop. A few days later I also recieved a follow up call the make sure the car was running smooth.”

“My car suddenly died and I had it towed to the closest place around - Hanson's Automotive. I must have been the luckiest girl in the world, because it was the best place I could have taken my Gran Am. Not only did they work hard to find out the problem (without taking me for the proverbial ride), but they worked even harder to fix everything within my time budget (I was supposed to be going out of town). They kept me updated on what they found - even updated my dad on the progress as well. While I left with an expensive bill (car repair ain't cheap), I felt completely confident that they have given me more than a fair price. Most of all, I was completely blown away by the friendly and totally helpful service. I will definitely visit again - but hopefully not soon. :)”

“The talented crew at Hanson Automotive did a fantastic job repairing the mangled quarter panel and cracked bumper and tail light of my '97 Grand Marquis. This is a shop that pays attention to detail! The paint matches perfectly and the decal stripe on the quarter panel looks as good as new.
Because of the work they did, I called them up again when my brakes started to act up. Once again they were able to do a great job on short notice with a quick turnaround, even when it turned out to be a complicated job like rusty brake lines. I was surprised by how well Hanson's communicated with me and kept me informed about everything that was going on with the repair and the options I had.
I originally chose Hanson based off of these other reviews before mine, and I must say that they did not disappoint my 5-star expectations. My rental car was covered by the other person's insurance, but Jim still offered me a free loaner! They are friendly and honest too; if you want the job done right for a fair price, Hanson's is the place!”

“Visiting from out of town, my air conditioning failed in the heat. Jim graciously fit me in immediately whereas other places couldn't until the following week. They checked the freon, compressor, pressure switch, etc. They only did the work I asked, and without additional charge they worked further, downloaded schematics and isolated the problem. While I didn't have time for them to order the parts and fix it while I was here, Hanson's walked me through everything they checked and handed me the manual's problem-solving flowchart so I can readily get the job done when I return home. Very up front and clear, knowledgeable, and honest. (When car trouble arose on previous trips traveling alone, I have been taken for expensive rides with unnecessary work). Not at Hanson's :-)”

My 02 Subi took hail damage in 06, and the first IC shop who fixed it would not take responsibility for the hundreds of chips that had appeared since. My insurance, however, agreed and I selected Hanson based on other work I'd seen on their website and in-person.

I complicated matters with after-market lights, repairs to the bumper and headlights, and mirror covers with integrated turn signals. The result?

“Recently I had an accident leaving my Vehicle destroyed. My insurance company wanted me to take it to one of their “recommended garages” but since it’s my choice to use whom I wish, I decided to use Hanson Automotive. I have used them for mechanical work in the past and have always been more than happy and after reading their body work reviews on line I knew they would take care of me “not” take advantage. Jim & Josh have always gone out of they’re way to save me money and get me back in my vehicle fast.

As soon as I arrived at the shop I was overwhelmed with the great customer service and the immediate help dealing with the insurance company claim. I made two calls, the first to my insurance company and the second to Hanson Auto and I didn’t have to do anything else. The owner Jim Hanson made the whole process smooth and painless. He also overheard me get upset with my insurance company when I realized I didn’t have rental coverage, Mr. Hanson immediately stepped up and informed me his shop offers free Loaner Vehicles!!!!

I picked up my vehicle tonight and was elated at the sight of what looks like a brand new car!!!! Kyle Hanson did my paint job and it’s a perfect match!! This young man is a perfectionist. Not only did he do an amazing job but he also took the time to buff my headlights and make them look brand new!!!

But wait they didn’t stop there…. My car was returned to me cleaner than when I brought it to them!! Evan Hanson looks to be the youngest at the shop detailed the inside of my vehicle. You could tell he takes pride in his work and work ethic definitely runs in this family. This young man is going to be my new detailer!!!

“I recently got into a small accident, and a friend recommended Hanson Auto because they were the best in town. My experience with them has made it apparent why they are considered so. The office and lot were some of the cleanest that I have ever seen, and the people were the most friendly and cordial that I have ever met. They are a little on the expensive side, but the interaction and the service itself makes up for that. I brought my car in for an estimate and they were able to fit me in right away, with no delay and a normal estimate of repair time. There were some slight delays in the time frame but the owner called me personally and explained, and even offered me a replacement car to use if I need it for the day that they were delayed. They did a complete check-up on my car while doing the repairs and told me what was what about upcoming needed maintenance. I would not hesitate to go back to this establishment and plan on keeping Hanson Auto as my auto shop for the next couple of years. I would highly recommend Hanson Auto as a body shop for anyone in need of repair, or just general maintenance.”

“Hanson Auto went the extra mile! I got into a fender-bender shortly before I was heading out of town. A friend recommended I go to Hanson Auto. She raved about their service. Everyone was so helpful and friendly! In giving their estimate, they realized that my tire was scraping the dented part and bent it back (before I signed anything) to prevent further damage to my tire. I had received another estimate from another local shop before my friend's recommendation and they quoted me a finish time that was weeks away and they didn't take the time to do what Hanson did. Hanson rushed to finish my car (and it was the week before spring break so they were really busy with folks heading out of town). Deeper into the repair, they noticed that the washer bottle was damaged in the collision. They contacted the insurance company to add it to the necessary repairs. When the Toyota truck that was delivering the parts had a delay, Jim went himself to Toyota to get the necessary part to get me on the road on time. The car looks great and I could not be happier with the service I received! They will always have my business and I recommend them wholeheartedly to everyone!”

“I went to Hanson's for the first time after a run-in with a deer. They replaced a headlight and repaired all damage but did not try to talk me into unnecessary repairs. As a young female, I was very appreciative that they did not dumb it down for me or intimidate me into paying for things I did not need like so many other repair places do. They really do make you feel like part of the family. Now, no matter the situation, I take my car to Hanson's for everything.”

“Hanson is not just Auto Body Repair. These guys are fantastic car car specialists. I was traveling from NC to Wisconsin, and needed some auto maintenance on my car and I wanted some folks to look over the ''on the road'' work I and others did to get my car moving after overheating. These guys were kind, gracious, thorough, and very fun to talk to. If you are smart - and I know there are lots of smart folks in the ol' Iowa City, consider checking with these guys when you got car issues. We even did an on the spot oil change, no problem, fast and fair.
